2. Information We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the App’s social and location-based features.

A. Information You Provide Directly

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, username, email address, and/or phone number to create and secure your account.
• Profile Data: You may optionally provide a profile picture or status message.
• User Content: Messages, photos, and media you send to other users. (See Section 4 regarding "Ephemeral Messaging").

B. Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data (Optional): If you enable location services, we collect your precise or approximate geolocation to show you friends who are nearby. This occurs only while using the App or as permitted by your device settings.
• Device Information: We collect device identifiers (e.g., UUID), device type, operating system version, and IP address to ensure App compatibility and security.
• Usage Logs: Technical data about how you interact with the App, such as crash logs and performance metrics.

C. Contacts (Optional)

Address Book: With your explicit permission, we may access your contact list to help you identify which of your friends are already using Who’s Free? or to send invitations. We do not store your contacts' data permanently on our servers unless they are also registered users.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following specific purposes:

• Service Delivery: To create your account, transmit messages, and display friends based on proximity.
• Location Features: To notify you when confirmed friends are within a specific range (if both parties have opted in).
• Safety & Security: To detect spam, abuse, or unauthorized access.
• App Improvement: To analyze crash reports and fix technical bugs.

4. Specific Note on Ephemeral Messaging

Who’s Free? is designed for temporary communication.

• Automated Deletion: Messages are programmed to be deleted from our servers automatically after they are delivered or after a set period.
• No Permanent History: We do not maintain a permanent archive of your private chat history.
• Important Disclaimer: We cannot prevent recipients from capturing your content (e.g., taking a screenshot or using a secondary camera) before it disappears. Do not send sensitive or compromising content relying solely on the automated deletion feature.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party infrastructure (e.g., cloud hosting services like Google Firebase or AWS, and analytics providers) to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation in the United Arab Emirates or your local jurisdiction.
• Safety: We may disclose data if we believe it is necessary to prevent imminent physical harm or financial loss, or to investigate illegal activity.

6. Data Retention

• Account Data: We retain your profile information as long as your account is active.
• Location Data: We do not retain historical location tracks. Your location data is overwritten in real-time or stored only for the duration of your active session.
• Messages: Messages are deleted from our servers once the deletion criteria (time or view count) are met.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the following rights:

• Access & Correction: You can view and edit your profile data directly in the App.
• Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account at any time via the App settings. Upon deletion, your data is removed from our active databases.
• Revoke Consent: You can disable Location Services or Contact Access at any time through your device’s system settings.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and secure server infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed on servers located outside of your country of residence (e.g., in the United States or Europe). By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via an in-app notification. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when the latest changes took effect.
